NEWS update!

Ahh, February is upon us. 2012 is here and a lot is happening. As I type, I am counting down the hours until I can post the new "Welcome to the Future!" to the blog. It just went out on The Cultist this morning and, thanks to New Times' genius editor, looks vibrant as it does in post :)

Speaking of post, I have finally accrued enough solid material to release a fully edited print. I have been nervous about doing a book and putting it off forever, but I am almost certain SIQ Magazine will be a tangible, turn-the-pageable comic book by April 2012. A little birthday present to myself, I guess.

Political news! The republican candidates...Phew. Some of these moments created in the race have been absolutely jaw dropping. The material!!! It's like all I have to do is turn on mainstream news to write an "Ike Mcloud: Smartest Man in the Universe" comic. Mitt Romney is like a mormon Ike! His history with Bain Capital, the "corporations are people" speeches, and the arrogant la-dee-da demeanor??? Unbelievable. Newt too. The wives, the Washington sell outs, the "I take offense" card puppetry. I honestly don't know my political affiliation this year...If the republicans win, I'll never run out of content.

Speaking of Ike (really running long on this update...)
A lot of people have been asking about why there hasn't been an Ike in like a month and a half. The short answer is that I have been working like crazy, getting investment money together for some animation. I really want to take Ike to a higher medium and, while things are moving along for my other series', I have been focusing on funding quite a bit. There IS a new comic in the works and it's coming along swimmingly. I see another Ike post coming next week or the week after. The idea-cards (if you've seen my desk this will be relevant) are stacked.

Okay, so now that I have blown a serious load of information onto the blog... Read some comics.
---Thanks again for checking out my stuff and coming back for more---

Had to repost..

Alright so I have been mulling around the idea to start adding news and links about some of the comics/cartoons that I like, art that I find interesting, etc.. I want to keep the blog centered around my work, but I also want to do things like review new animated series' and spotlight some things I think are neat-o.

This is a good link to kick it off...
Mike Judge's "Beavis and Butthead" have been a favorite of mine since watching them in secret during the sheltered christian early-teen years of my life. A lot of 3-D artists have made trailers for episodes in CG, sculpted action figures and more, but these busts are better than anything I have ever seen.

Welcome to the future: "Poo"

--So this week's "Welcome to the Future" is another true tale of my experience here in Miami.

Resident's tip #349: People actually shit in the streets here. This particular scenario is inspired by 3 separate instances of Tom-shittery (get it???).. I was leaving from work once and a girl was propped up in the alley, fresh out of a club, taking a dump in front of a gaggle of "guard girls" laughing their asses off. I immediately thought, "isn't there a Starbucks around for you to shit in?" and there WAS...3 blocks away.
--My second and third experiences were post violation. Walking in the parking lot on 10th street and Washington, a hub known for it's hookery and homelessness, I smelled what I could only describe as a fog of pure disease. The air was humid and it didn't help my attempted escape from the smell. Both times, I look toward the bus stop and there, lying on the sidewalk/grassy waiting area is a fresh few logs of unashamed human shit. Unbelievable. This is a busy road. How is it that no one stopped this person from publicly dumping a gut bomb at the bus stop??

I guess spiderman was busy that night.

Anyway, all shit jokes aside (so ashamed..) this week has been a good one. Drawing tonight and tomorrow for NEW Ike Mcloud comics, which we all haven't seen for a few weeks. It's been really busy at the studio and I couldn't be happier about that. New DIRTY panel coming this weekend, followed by a few Ike things and another "Welcome to the Future" premiers on January 30th!

-Stay tuned-

comic for DIRTY MAG this week--

Long awaited series for New Times: "Welcome to the Future"

So the New Times Miami (Village Voice affiliate) has signed me to do a bi-monthly//every two-week comic series titled "Welcome to the Future!". It's an autobiographical series (said I would never do it, BUT..) about the disappointing nature of the modern world, and theres no better place to illustrate this point than Miami, FL.

The obnoxiously hot days and club lit nights, the freaks and grease-balls clamoring for fame and fortune...All a living comedy in the most traditional sense. So I hope the readership enjoys this look into living in such an odd place, so far I've gotten some good reviews :)

See you next week!
