Season 2: "Welcome to the Future" premiers!

A lot of fun this week working toward premiering this next 10 episodes of "Welcome to the Future" for The Miami New Times. Especially after a much needed week off.

A little fan art this week from "Comic Blasphemy" comes from Edward in Miami FL :)
Sort of illustrates the grotesqueness of Abraham's complexion. Theres no clearasil in the desert.

POW, what a week!

What a week it has been! Every single day has been filled with finalizing work, drawing new stuff and *drumroll* illustrating a new "Ike Mcloud: Smartest Man in the Universe!". I was commissioned by an old friend to make a flyer for his music project, The End of the Dial Tone Radical Experimental Collaborative Music Band Band, that corresponded with a video he shot as a promo for Facebook

--I usually hate my work for about the first two hours after it is finished, then I return and like it later on. This one I really liked from start to finish. Simple, almost film-like colors, with a few splashes of extreme yellows and oranges. Plus, if you are familiar with any of my work from 2008-2009, you know that John (featured in the video) used to be a popular cartoon character of mine that came to life after a genie granted me such an honor. It's great to be drawing him again, even if he shaved his mustache..

A little "Comic Blasphemy"...

...to hold you over until next week's Ike AND "Welcome..." publishing :)

New workspace! Fresh start to May.

Almost perfect!
-I was lucky enough to have come across another drafting table and it has improved my methods of organization tenfold. Pens, old merch (stickers n' shit) and scanning equipment perfectly line the white "editing table", while my black-glass drawing table stays messy and covered in a layer of eraser shavings.
Wine, of course, to fuel the night's work, along with a few comics and old zines for inspiration/break time along the way.

--New Ike penciling was done tonight. He's coming back with a vengeance next week, along with "Welcome to the Future!" Season 2. I know I keep promising books.. Well, that started becoming reality tonight also. This summer will be fun.

New "Welcome" and more!

And so, the end of season 1 of "Welcome to the Future" has come! Hard to believe it has been ten episodes already but it has. Five whole months of pure comic flow. I am taking this upcoming week off for improvements and brainstorming on how to start up season two. Also, I have been moving my workspace to a new location, will post photos when everything looks nice..

--So in the meantime, be ready for the return of more Ike Mcloud! Its been too long! I have so many notes on new comics for him, but never seem to get the time for a whole session. SOON...

Separate note: I've been doing a lot of commissioned work lately. Wanted to post a shirt design I did for some friends, Rational Anthem. Their concept was a perv wizard and so naturally, they contacted me.

A lot in the works everyone, stay tuned!

News, Acid and Tropicult.

Ah, wednesday of draw week...That belly of self-loathing and disgust at how much I have procrastinated all week. Beautiful. Yes, sketching mutants outside of the coffee shop for 5 hours SEEMED like a good idea monday morning, but now the reality of moving, work, my friday birthday and relatives coming into town all smushed into one weekend is literally making me poo (as I type actually).

This friday, on 0420 I turn 0240. I was born when my mom was 24, 42 was always my "lucky number" as a kid and if you take 2012, ad 1+2, then use 0 as a "number placeholder"=1, you have 24.....Too far? If something spooky and Mayan happens this year, I'll be excited. Farfetched, but JUST LOOK AT ALL THE EVIDENCE!!

Okay. On a more serious(ish) note, //TROPICULT// just broke my interview! I'd like to say they "sat me down", but I actually did this interview shortly after a long stint with friends, vagabonding around Tampa FL, drinking and being young Hunter Thompsons, suitcase and all. So here it is, give them some hits!

"Quadruple D's" for The New Times!

--Tonight was a great night! Not only did "Quadruple D's" get people laughing and possibly masturbating at The New Times website, but my panel, "Comic Blasphemy" (one post down) was reposted by The Thinking Atheist's webmaster and hit 230 "likes" on FB in 3 hours!

Promised some sketchbook stuff but it will have to wait for Friday.
3:46am showed up quickly tonight :)

Cheers everyone!

New Ike in the works!

It's been a little while, but a new episode of "Ike Mcloud: Smartest Man in the Universe" is on it's way. Trouble with Ike is, I have about 6000 notecards and folded pages of script/storyboard on my desk and I can never choose which to finalize. Because I want to animate his stories, I get all freaked out about letting too much story go, or not being chronological enough for the reader.

--Gonna go ahead and let that instinct go for the next few weeks, see how it feels--

So no comic today, but a quote from Ike's twitter (actually exists) that I thought would at least get you jackin' for more.
